The stage is set, pieces are moving… and I need pictures!

My Naked Conversations presentation is set. I always work better with a deadline. On the 2nd of August I will be presenting to my fellow co-workers. Now to actually start making the presentation. What is the plan:

  • The presentation should last 45 minutes, with an extra 20 minutes for questions at the end.
  • Motivate my co-workers to blog and to blog the right way (to my opinion offcource.
  • Provide a motivation for our company to blog. A lot of people wonder why we should actually do this.
  • Review the current blogging activity by comparing it to some empirical data. (Not sure what data yet though. :) )
  • Gently point out what I think we should change in our current blogging activities. No reason to create animosity.

As you can see, that’s a lot to cram into a 45 minute talk. I think I’ll go for a sort of mash-up of things I’ve read in the book, found on the internet and my own experiences/opinions. Perhaps a high speed quote shoot-out with pretty pictures. The most important thing is to interest people in the first place. When they are interested I am hoping they will start asking questions.

There is one thing I still am a bit stifled about: What are good graphic representations of blogging? Anybody got ideas about that?

Testing with Ecto

Ecto Testing with Ecto… Besides MarsEdit I am also trying Ecto. Ecto does have Amazon posting. But image editing is way to complex for my taste.

I’ll give both tools a good spin, but I expect that I will actually like the WordPress web interface best. :D Both tools seem to have their own strengths and weaknesses. I wonder if there might be any other contenders.

Also Ecto has Growl support. I like Growl support.

Testing with Marsedit

marseditIconLarge.pngJust a few minutes ago I downloaded MarsEdit. I’m running a trial copy of it and am very curious if I am going to like it or not. I’ll post my findings.

MarsEdit is an OSX Cocoa application for posting on a weblog.

Well One thing I am missing already is an easy way to post Amazon pictures.

Callisto is final

Last night I installed the final release of Callisto with Eclipse 3.2 on my mac. And it works like a charm so far. Earlier release candidates were often broken on OSX. But this seems solid. Also the sheer amount of functionality is just overwhelming, where do I start with exploring all the goodies provided by the Callisto release plug-ins?

Callisto is here...Compared to previous Eclipse OSX releases Eclipse seems a lot more polished now. Sure there are some gripes, like scroll-bars appearing in the description field of the new project wizard. But it is getting better and better. Guess I will be doing some Wayne Beaton inspired evangelising on my current project next week. (Basically this would mean raising my hands into the air, exclaim why I think Eclipse is best, then kindly respond to all questions being asked. I won’t go swimming in a frozen lake though.)

I have been goofing around a bit last night, I smacked together some user interfaces with VE. Which is also part of the Callisto release. It seems to work ok, but still it doesn’t have the flexibility of rolling the views yourself. I’m not sure yet if I really like Visual Editor, but the rest of Callisto: Awesome! :P
